Forevermark, the De Beers diamond brand, led a joint-effort with custom safari specialist, Explore, Inc., to support rhinoceros rescue efforts in Botswana. The organizations held a private dinner for more than 100 persons Thursday at Le Bernardin Privé in New York hosted by chef/owner Eric Ripert benefiting the newly created Tlhokomela Trust.
Special guests at the dinner included Tshekedi Khama of the Botswana minister of Environment, Wildlife and Tourism, activist Gloria Steinem, actress Uma Thurman, model Coco Rocho and husband James Conran, as well as CEO and founder of Space for Giants, Max Graham.
“Tlhokomela” means “to protect” in Setswana (the main language of Botswana) reflecting the trust’s mission to perpetuate and expand the country’s vast and pristine wilderness areas and protect critically endangered rhinos and other species.
All contributions are being made through The Giants Club, which has a played an important strategic role in launching Tlhokomela and continues to support the trust.
